Mystics may often come off as a scary or cold race, but are actually somewhat romantic...to the people they allow in, at least. Often living alone, Mystics can be a frightfully intelligent species, and display a high affinity wih Charm Magic more often than not. As such, many Mystics can be very manipulative; especially those who are convinced everyone is "inferior" to them. However, while they can be a very prideful species, they will back down in the face of someone who can best them. Beating them in whatever field they master in is a good way to gain in their respect, though this may come with jealousy or sorrow as well.
Though some Mystics are reborn humans, the species as a whole has many different forms and Masteries. In particular, Siren-like Mystics, Water Mystics (who appear as mermaid-like creatures), Hunters, Spellcasters (plus Necromancers and Summoners), Beastmasters and Angelic Mystics are the most common types around. Mystic Lords are very hard to come across, but display terrifying amounts of power when they're goaded into battle. There are even some Mystics with animal-like traits, though they're often lumped in with Mystic Lords due to their crazy levels of strength.
Mystics are commonly mistaken as vampires due to their need to consume lifeforce to remain strong. No matter how much food one may consume, they always need to supplement their own lifeforce with that of another to remain mobile; especially those reborn from human corpses.
The skills of a Mystic varies depending on their rank, class and race.
Hunters often live in forests or mountainous areas, and are often very useful with guns and lances.
Summoners nearly always have a bit of a Beastmaster's power within them, and are often found in the forests alongside Beastmasters. Unlike Beastmasters, who use physical weapons such as claws to fight, a Summoner will almost always use a book or a staff in a battle. Summoners can also be found in rural towns or, more rarely, urban cities, as can Beastmasters (though they'll never be found in cities).
Necromancers are often found within forests or cities, and always use books to spellcast with. Coincidentally, they're almost always very adept at creating potions.
Water and Siren Mystics often live within clean bodies of water, though Sirens can often be found within seas. Water Mystics are very shy creatures, and often refuse to show themselves to land-dwellers. The Sirens are among one of the deadliest kinds of Mystics due to their powerfully charming singing voices.
Angelic mystics (which are sometimes mistaken for angelic demons) often live amongst the clouds, though they can be spotted in rural towns as well. It's rare to find them living anywhere lower than the top of a mountain range, however.
These groups can all be lumped into one of three general categories: Ciel Mystics (winged beings), Wave Mystics (water-based beings) and Terra Mystics (land-based beings).
Of them all, a Mystic Lord is the most dangerous, and can only be found in populated places (such as cities). Often stealing surrounding domains for their own benefit, they can be very ruthless fighters, and even more ruthless adversaries when faced against a Demon Lord. They often possess the strongest Charm Magic of them all, and sometimes display animal-like limbs and tendencies due to this. A good amount of the more powerful Mystics (usually from the Terra or Ciel lines) also exhibit bug-like traits, which is unique to the species as a whole.
Due to their rather detached way of upbringing, many Mystics are lone wolves and very anti-social. However, the few people they do allow in would probably be very surprised when presented with the culture of a Mystic. Often smitten by the idea of learning new things (be it romantic languages or about new species), a Mystic can become very annoying with the flurry of questions that usually follows a new discovery. Even if they can be a bit bothersome, they will almost always act for the benefit of themselves and their friends (especially those they respect greatly).
Though Mystics are able to crossbreed with Demons, the hybrids are often left to fend for themselves much earlier than full-blooded Mystic offsprings are. These hybrids tend to be very hardy, though they will always need to draw lifeforce for themselves. Arguably, Mystic-hybrids are one of the strongest species on Ceres.
Mystics can go mad with power, but will never be able to gain an additional form, unlike their common counterparts. With Mystics, what you see is what you get at times.
Mystics are said to have their own language. However, they will never speak this outside of heavily-populated Mystic dwellings, and not even then if an outside species is present (unless they're that well-trusted).
In general, Mystics are very shut-off from outside species and people. Once they do decide to let someone in, however, they'll do everything in their capacity to ensure awe and the enjoyment of others. They have a very distinct love of any art form, and love battling, Charm and "romantic" dialects/languages. If they are shown any sort of new "art", they will gladly accept a new friend - given the art is actually a worthwhile investment, of course. While courting a Mystic can be a very difficult task (especially with those obsessed with charming others first and foremost), once they're in somebody's life, it can be very hard to remove their influence from an individual's life, for better or for worse.
