Arrowkert is a new species that was created by the bonding of an Arrowcellious and a Magikert. It is not clear how this occurred, but the origination of the species is clear. Arrowkert are a friendly species according to observation. They have a defensive side, but this is only if they are bullied. They are very smart, much like Magikerts, but are also strong, like Arrowcellious. Arrowkert can be found in civilized areas and in warm reigns. They are unlikely to be found in cold areas, even if the area's settled. Arrowkert usually have crystal components, but where these are varies for each individual. Sometimes the skin is crystal, other times it could be the bones. Reproduction is an interesting factor of an Arrowkert, not only because a hug with an opposite gender for more than 5 minutes will begin the cycle, but because Arrowkert females will lay eggs. Researchers suspect that an earlier generation species on the Magikert side may have created influence on this, but it is not clear. Arrowkert females lay eggs on a monthly basis. When they do, there is a tiny chance (1 in 1000) that the egg they lay will hatch into a child. This species is new and the oldest known individual of this species is still healthy, making the lifespan unclear.
Arrowkerts have been found to have a high evolution rate, something seen with very few species. This has been observed with their reproductive system in particular. The ability to increase their capacity to higher amounts was a start. Further evolution allowed for them to mark others by harnessing their energies. Evolution also took them to create eggs at a faster rate, capping at one per second if hugging long enough. This also took itself further later on, allowing multiple eggs to form depending on how many one was hugging. Arrowkert are likely to become a lot more common with this change. This will also make them one of the quickest to become a successful species.
Arrowkert are sturdy for the most part. Their height is often around the median between Arrowcellious and Magikert. They often have some crystal, this can be internal, external or both. What decides where structures have crystal is not entirely clear. Body structures can be entirely crystal as well depending on the percentage of Arrowcellious traits. Males are typically taller to a small extent compared to females, however, more powerful variations tend to gain more height. Females most commonly have Magikert chests. Males most often have Arrowcellious chests. Bellies vary between both genders. Both males and females tend to get strong hips. Leg structure is somewhat power tied, but both genders tend to have notable variations between Arrowcellious and Magikert.
The most common variation of colour is a slight blue tint to the skin. The skin tint is linked to the crystal colour of an Arrowkert, which is also most commonly a light blue shade. Hair colour is variable, most commonly matching crystal colour, but it's not uncommon to see the hair colour differ. Eye colour varies quite a lot and doesn't link to species, but more to how an individual is.
Clothing varies heavily by personality and gender. Females like to dress in dresses and skirts for the most part, but some love battlesuits. Males like armour and tough clothing, although there's the occasional who prefers colourful clothing. The percentage of parent species within an individual tends to steer Arrowkerts towards their clothing choices.
Arrowkerts are a result of Arrowcellious and Magikert. This successful bond was an adaptation of it's own, but appearance wise, the more attractive traits seem to be what females took on while the males took on strength. Certain examples like Crysta proves there's a very high amplitude for appearance changes and adaptation based on situation. In addition, it seems that Arrowkert are compatible with growing tails, although this is not by default.
Arrowkert are by default, happy joyful fellows. Another variation is hearty and welcoming. Either way Arrowkert are typically easy to get along with for this reason. Arrowkerts, especially females, like to cuddle. Arrowkert often adapt to a culture related to Arrowcellious. Arrowkert will become defensive if they are bullied, verbally or physically. Thanks to their Arrowcellious side, they also have a strong will.
Arrowkert have a good amount of reasoning, usually reacting appropriately to situations as they present themselves. They have been known to rush to conclusions on occasion. Those who are more Magikert based may have an elevated sense of reasoning.
Arrowkert are very social, even to most strangers. They are quick to introduce themselves and speak to them like they're part of family. This doesn't mean they immediately trust strangers, this is more in relation to their social culture coming from Arrowcellious, in which families should be welcoming. If someone makes an enemy of them, then they are less likely to interact with the enemy.
Arrowkert speak English primarily, since this is a common language between both parent species. They are often able to speak Arrowcelli as well. Arrowkert are capable of learning most other languages and theory suggests that they may even be able to speak limited dragonic tongues.
Arrowkert are quite smart and it doesn't take long for them to remember something. The older an Arrowkert, the higher their intelligence, since they have a good learning amplitude. There are also isolated situations where intelligence will be much higher than normal. In nearly all situations, Arrowkert do not lose intelligence.
Arrowkert have similar settlement preferences to Magikert, where settlements are their preference. They can be found in rural, in where their personality may have subtle or obvious differences. Arrowkert have a somewhat higher toleration to the elements, so they may spread to cliffsides and even closer to hot areas, like geyser fields.
Arrowkert have increased heat toleration, moreso if they have a lot of crystal on their skin. Their preferences are fields, moreso near bodies of fresh water. Forests are somewhat popular, although forests cannot be too dense. Extreme conditions are typically avoided in terms of settlement. The hot extremes can be tolerated to an extent, but they will not settle in these conditions.
Arrowkert have an above average adaptation to environments, mainly in their ability to build shelters and hunt for food in survival situations. Their temperature toleration isn't that flexible, but they can make clothing to change that. Arrowkert with more crystal skin can adapt to hot environments compared to those without. There is limited adaptability in terms of hot environments.
Arrowkert like to explore, mostly out of curiosity. While some may remain settled in the settlement of birth, many are known to venture out. This could be for the sake of learning, for fun or even to find a place of their own to settle in. While they are less likely to explore areas that are known to be hostile, the more bold Arrowkerts don't seem to mind so long as there's not too many hazards. Even if they find a new place to settle, it is likely Arrowkert will explore more, although this is usually for other reasons.
Arrowkert court at any time of the year, but seem most likely to search for a partner when their hormones are at their peak once a month. Courting only occurs if an Arrowkert does not have a partner, since they prefer to have a partner for life. They court first by hinting their interests in someone. Arrowkert will then express their assets in hopes of alluring their interest. Later they may even outright admit their interest right to the person of interest.
Arrowkert have two ways of initiating reproduction. The first way is by hugging someone of the opposite gender for 5 minutes or more. If reproduction is done enough, then initiation has been known to stack. This appears to cap at one egg per second. The rate can also be multiplied by the amount of opposite genders being hugged at the same time. This method of initiation will trigger the formation of eggs. The second method is through sexual acts, which will result in pregnancy if successful. Arrowkert may also form (1 in 1000 chance) a fertile egg on their own.
Arrowkert are capable of creating eggs, which is tied to an ancestor of Magikerts. They are also able to birth live offspring. In the case of pregnancy Arrowkert will carry their child for one month before they are ready to be born. Arrowkert will normally lay up to three infertile eggs per month, however, if the Arrowkert's fertility is high enough, this number can increase. The maximum amount is also known to increase if the reproductive cycle is initiated frequently. There is a 1 in 1000 chance that one of these monthly eggs could be prefertile, meaning an asexually created offspring. Arrowkert will form eggs created between a partner and them for about a week, then nest them for just over three additional weeks before the egg hatches into a newborn.
Arrowkert prefer to breast feed their children. Both genders will play a role in keeping their offspring healthy. The mother is often responsible for feeding, the father is often keeping partner and children safe. Both will help with feeding once the child has started to move onto soft foods. The father will also help take care of the mother when the scenario requires. Offspring will be nurtured for just shy of two years before training begins.
Before year two, both Arrowkert parents will start training children to walk. This typically takes a month at most. After this, training for speech begins. Alongside this, potty training also begins. The first takes three to five months, the latter takes just under one month. After these two components have been taught, children will start to get gradual exposure to the outside world, being taught life skills as examples present themselves. Some Arrowkert will be educated at around year four. Those who are educated will typically have this complete by the age of nine. Arrowkert can undergo advanced education afterwards. Arrowkert will also learn enhanced social skills and be taught more complicated subjects around year nine (like how to charm a potential partner or operating aircraft). Arrowkert are officially considered completely mature by age 16, however, their bodies can mature as early as 14.
