Kitsune of Ceres are strange, mischievous creatures that often like to play pranks on others or mess with others' heads, though that isn't to say they can't be friendly or malicious. While there are many kinds of Kitsune on Ceres (Youkai and Spirits otherwise), most Kitsune have similar abilities. That is, they possess the ability to shapeshift and hide their fox-like traits from others with the use of Illusion Magic, and will often try to take advantage of others in order to benefit themselves or their cubs (especially if they're desperate or get requests from weaker beings for help). While proud beings in general, and narcissistic in other ways (especially when it comes to their appearances), Kitsune are rather intelligent creatures capable of creating panaceas and will general help the unfortunate if they catch wind of this. Kitsune tend to live either solitary lives or within Clans/packs. It's very hard to corner these tricksters as a result of their wit and the species' willingness to help out those in need (their own kind included).
Appearance
Kitsune can appear in multiple body types, but generally appear as humanoid creatures with fluffy fox ears and tails. The longer-lived kitsune generally have more tails than their juniors, especially if they have not yet unlocked their true potentials. The long lived kitsune with one tail may seem to be weaker as a result, but usually have a single tail for a reason and so should not be underestimated. Some kitsune can be very tiny, or very tall. A majority of kitsune appear as beautiful or waif-ish creatures in order to lure prey over, though this may also attract some unwanted suitors.
Behaviour
They tend to be tricky individuals who like to make their own fun, though they tend to be rather sharp in both wit and intuition as well, and will almost always help out beings that need their help. In fact, if one is to lay an offering at a shrine in their name, Kitsune will come from all over in order to help out those who have made the offering, finding it a sign of respect. Kitsune will bow out of a fight if they feel they're endangered, though, as their sense of pride and the idea of keeping their species alive and well overwhelms their helpful traits more often than not.
Climate
Kitsune are able to do well in colder climates, especially those with thicker fur, but generally prefer forested areas due to the many tricks they can perform there. As well, they prefer to have dens to call home, preferring to stay out of sight when they're not up to something. The kitsune with multiple tails that can float around might be found in high places, though. They're very territorial, so unless one is invited into their homes, it's a wise idea not to go near a kitsune's den or house.
Reproduction
Kitsune that are part of the Youkai family are easily able to use the Magic Seed method to reproduce, though Spiritual Kitsune rely on melding part of their spirits together with another being (Kitsune or not) in order to bring new life to the world. Whether they use Anima (in the Spirits case) or Elemental energy, this method works regardless of their spiritual energy. Some kitsune aren't able to crossbred, however, or are simply unwilling to in order to keep their blood/family line 'pure' or strong. It’s worth noting that female Kitsune who haven’t been fed a proper meal in a long time may become literal maneaters, becoming capable of killing their partner through absorbing their lifeforce through copulation. Most try to avoid entering such a state for obvious reasons.
